In Loving Memory of George Christ Jr.
February 25, 1950 – August 29, 2026

George Christ Jr., 76, of Garden City, New York, passed away on August 29, 2026.

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, proud Marine, and a man whose generosity and concern for others defined the way he lived his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Christ, and his children, Jon Christ, Heather Pineda and her husband Brian, Tim Christ and his wife Nicolette, and Keith Christ. He was predeceased by his beloved son, George Christ III, who passed away at the age of 20. George was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Cassie Lynn Christ.

Family always came first for George. He loved his wife and children deeply and consistently put the needs of those he loved ahead of his own. His caring nature extended far beyond his family. George was extraordinarily generous and supported numerous charitable organizations, including Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Tunnel to Towers Foundation, among others.

A proud United States Marine, George carried with him the values of loyalty, honor, respect, and doing what was right. He was honest, dependable, and always willing to go the extra mile for someone who needed him.

Those who knew George will remember the unmistakable personality behind his imposing appearance. With his beard and gold jewelry, he could look tough at first glance, but underneath was what his family lovingly described as a “gentle giant” and a “big teddy bear.” He loved to laugh, loved making others laugh, and had a warmth that quickly revealed itself to anyone fortunate enough to know him.

In his free time, George enjoyed collecting vintage and rare coins, a hobby that brought him great enjoyment over the years. He was also a devoted New York Islanders fan and loved turning on the Islanders and settling in to watch the games.

Perhaps one of the best examples of George’s character came in the arrangements he made for the end of his own life. He specifically requested two days of visitation because he worried someone might not be able to attend on one of the days. Even while planning his own funeral, George was still thinking about how he could accommodate others. It perfectly captured the kind of man he was.

George was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Paul in Hempstead, where his funeral service will be held.

George leaves behind a legacy of generosity, laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love for his family. He will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught, the people he helped, and the memories he created will live on through everyone who knew and loved him.
