I had the honor of meeting Congresswoman McCarthy many times during my tenure at Adelphi University. I was always struck by her genuine, common sense approach to our nation's challenges, and her commitment to gun control reform. My condolences to her family. May God rest her soul.

Aunt Carolyn you will be missed! I will forever cherish the great memories of going to your house for holidays and enjoying our time there. Visiting DC, and watching you accomplish many milestones there. Thank you for showing generations to come what standing up for what you believe in can accomplish and how to be a strong empowering woman! I wish my kids had the chance to meet you, but I will share your success and stories from my childhood to come for many years.

Where do I begin....I'll start with a time of our lives, myself living in East quogue & she in Mineola/Westhampton, on Brushyneck Lane.....most weekends after her week in Washington, would be a relaxing, beach, shopping time, together! Pikes beach, on Dune Rd was our favorite...meet there at 9am on Sat mornings with 7-11 coffee & buttered roll, in hand, just sitting , loving the ocean. We would love walking the beach, shelling.....so calming to do
I am, missing her so very much, but I do believe, one day , I will see her again ..

The McNamara family had the honor of getting to know Carolyn as our youngest sister Ellen worked for Carolyn in her Washington office. Unfortunately, my sister lost her husband while she was working for Congresswoman McCarthy. We will always remember Carolyn for the kindness and compassion she showed to both my sister and her daughter during those difficult days. May Carolyn rest in everlasting peace for a job well done.

Aunt Carolyn, you were such a warrior, it is still hard to believe you are gone knowing how many lives you lived. You were a constant in our lives from family parties, holiday's, Sunday Family Dinners, The Hamptons & Sanibel beach days and our favorite Hurricane Evacuations. The $1 store, Wal-Mart and all of our shopping outings for candles & holiday decor will be greatly missed. Noone could outdo your decorations, no matter the season. Your smile, warmth & laughter always made everyone feel at home - no matter where we were...we will have so many lasting memories..

I was privileged to know Carolyn McCarthy, albeit for a short period of time. The Jensen family graciously let me share their many family soiree's, where I came to have a very special relationship with Carolyn. Our shared interest in politics gave for some memorable debates, and even in opposition, she had incredible class, along with her fierce belief. I looked forward to my meetings with Carolyn, I had the utmost respect for her life achievements, and I loved her for her kindness, her courage, and what a fabulous human being she was, I will miss her immensely.....xoxoxoxo

I interned with Congresswoman McCarthy many years ago, and it’s hard to put into words how much that experience meant to me and my family. Even as a young Black man, I felt seen and valued. Carolyn was tough, smart, caring, and deeply committed to doing the right thing. She didn’t just talk about courage—she lived it. Rest in peace, Congresswoman. You made a difference in mine and so many more lives.

Although I only knew Carolyn for a short time (7 or 8 yrs.) we made many happy memories that I will cherish forever. I was introduced to her thru my friend, Susan Tracey. The first time was at the beach in Sanibel Island. This began the first of many gatherings not only at the beach but there were dinners, lunches, pizza parties, birthdays etc. It didn’t matter where, as long as “The Beach Gals” could get together. Carolyn touched my life, as well as many others , in ways that I will never forget!!!!
My heart goes out to her family and friends in this difficult time. 🙏❤️🙏

I first made Carolyn's acquaintance when I was working at what was then Community Hospital at Glen Cove. Years later, when learning about the LIRR tragedy, I at first did not realize who Carolyn was, until someone said to me "She's Cookie"! She was a truly remarkable individual, and I so admired her courage and her efforts for gun control. My sincerest condolences to all her cherished family and friends.

I met Carolyn when I was only 12 years old. It was the first of eight summers I would spend as an intern in her district office. I don’t think I truly knew what community service meant before I set foot in that office. She taught me by example that if something is wrong or unjust, you should try your hardest to do something about it. Thank you to Carolyn - and by extension, the district office staff she assembled - for shaping the course of my life. My condolences to all.

I became friends with Carolyn after she moved to Florida. We were a group of "ladies" as she called us that enjoyed going to the beach, lunches, pool parties, and dinner together. We just enjoyed each other's company and had a great time. RIP dear friend, you will be missed.

It was an honor to know Carolyn. Through tragedy we became friends and fighters for gun control. Her legacy will live on and we will miss Carolyn dearly.

I met Carolyn through my friend Marge Jensen from Ft.Myers Florida. This was probably over 10 years ago. I was in awe of meeting a Congresswoman! I spend my winters in Sanibel Florida and it was my privilege to have Carolyn, Marge, Judy and Linda and Arlene when she could get there, enjoy our beaches in Sanibel! So many great memories there, the Tiki Bar, collecting shells and enjoying each other’s company. We were all from different parts of the country and walks of life, but it didn’t matter, we were “The Beach Girls”! I am forever grateful to call Carolyn my friend. RIP Carolyn

We have been friends of Carolyn and Dennis for over 55 years and enjoyed being with them at numerous events over those years especially with the crew from Cambria Heights and Queens Village, especially the gang from the Community Gardens on Friday nights, summers renting homes in the Hamptons and skiing in Vermont.
After her retirement from Congress we had the privilege of welcoming her to Ft Myers. That move gave us all another chapter that we will remember for
for the rest of our lives.
Carolyn you may not be with us but we will always remember you in our thoughts and prayers. You were one of a kind. We love and miss you.

I knew Carolyn through Nassau County Democratic politics, but also as a fellow resident of Mineola. She did Long Island proud, turning tragedy into life saving legislation regulating the use of lethal firearms. She did it all with grace and the salt of the earth charm you get from growing up in Brooklyn and living on Long Island. Specifically, I will remember Carolyn for her support of the Nassau Health Care Corporation during my tenure as its CEO. Her office was instrumental in helping us form the Long Island FQHC, Inc., which later became Harmony Health Care. This federally qualified health center transformed a number of struggling, underfunded clinics into a thriving series of community-based practices delivering great care to those who need the help the most. Rest in peace, Carolyn.

We graduated from Glen Cove Hospital together and were able to reconnect a few years back with another classmate.

We had a wonderful time together while attending Glen Cove Community Hospital Nursing School along with Linda Butcher. Several years ago she came out to East Hampton with Linda Butcher. We had so much fun talking about our times together. Your Mom will always be remembered as the very special lady she was.

Carolyn never let partisan politics distract her from her single minded mission of gun control and bettering the quality of life I her district. She was a wonderful partner in government and friend.

My sincere condolences to her son Kevin his wife and their children and any other family members. Carolyn McCarthywas a strong advocate for gun control and safety. She had INTEGRITY and cared about people. May her memory always be for a blessing.
